This is my very first piece of desktop publishing done while working at the Open University in 1986. Created in Word 3.1 with the pictures done in MacDraw on an Apple Mac 512 (kb of RAM) but I kept breaking it so they gave me a Mac Plus with a whole 1mb of memory. As you can see I had a lot to learn! |

I entered the world of commerce and produced a catalogue for Holophane lighting systems. This was done on a Mac SE with a colour interface and an early, quirky version of QuarkXPress that, amongst other things, inserted random invisible tabs between the columns! |

Not only was I learning a lot I was evangelical about this stuff! Here’s a page from a booklet I created that was given to potential clients so they could see just what the company could do for them – note the lack of colour but greyscale & fills did the job just fine. |

Now things began to get really interesting! Ah, the world of finance – just the place to hone my skills of layout and accuracy. I learned PowerPoint (in mono), designed some layouts for reports and stayed up till cock crow (just once) to ensure the report was perfect. I also created an annoying little in-house magazine... and a logo for our in-house DTP services. |
